The Amazon
rainforest which accounts for more than 30 percent of our planet’s tropical
rain forests[1] is
situated within the countries of French Guiana, Ecuador, Guyana, Suriname,
Brazil, Columbia, Venezuela and Peru[2].
It harbours one of the most diverse ecosystem on Earth and plays a crucial role
in maintaining our entire planet’s health. Unfortunately, it is under an increasing amount of anthropogenic stress. Throughout the next couple of months,
I will discuss and analyse the devastating impacts of human activity on the Amazon
rainforest.
